10th of October, World Mental Health Day

On the 10th of October we celebrated World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme focused on “Young People and Mental Health in a changing World”. Over the next coming 12 months and together with our partner ChoraChori Nepal, we will be talking to adolescents and teachers in Godawari, south of Kathmandu about their mental health needs and emotional well-being.  We will also be launching a new online mental health promotion platform designed for young Nepalis — a space where youngsters and adolescents can find out more about mental health and emotional problems, look for answers and support, and discuss their concerns through a safe, non-judgmental channel.

According to WHO half of all mental illness begins by the age of 14, but most cases go undetected and untreated.  It’s time to be honest, bold and upfront. It’s time to reach out to those who need and want to be listened to. Let’s talk with young people. Let’s talk about mental health.
